Evidencing Work in Progress:

Evidencing the Comic Cover:

I wanted to establish the continuous primary colour tone and theme by having that information given from just viewing at the front cover. In the image below, I show my progress in my front cover, open in the software 'FireAlpaca'.

To make manipulating text and characters easier, I made sure I had multiple drawing layers to quickly change and adapt features of the comic book cover.

In the bottom left corner of my drawing software, I have a list of different brushes. In the creative process of this page, I used mainly the gradient, airbrush and blur tool. By having a focus on these specific tools, I created a high contrast in the primary colour levels. Without the use of this, my comic cover wouldn't have any depth or dimension.

This method was effective as it made features pop off the background behind. I took this approach to other pages as I developed with my final major project.

Evidencing Examples of Advertisement Pages:

One of the most challenging advertisement pages was the 'Anti-Bac Fairy' page. This was because I wanted to make sure my nan looks accurate as a comic book character. In these images I show development in the digital character design as well as experimenting with the colour scheme.

When changing the background of the created comic advertisement, I made sure I was using my layers correctly. If I got confused with all the different layer aspects, this would of made manipulating specific areas to become difficult as the layers can get mixed and muddled, especially when creating detailed pieces.

Evidencing Examples of Narrative Pages:

Here I am demonstrating my work on my second narrative page for my comic. This was quite early on in my project when I was also still becoming familiar to the software and different tools.

The most effective technique I used in this specific page, was by using the gradient tool. Having to achieve a gradient without this tool takes a lot of time, but as I got use to the software more, I felt more adventurous and experienced using the available tools within the 'FireAlpaca' software.

The gradient effect adds more of an idea of depth and realism. This sense of dimension helps force a perspective onto the viewer. The effect of this helps the viewer to understand a better perception of the created comic panel.  Another effect is that it creates a more dynamic and cohesive composition, tying in the narrative more effectively along side the visuals.
